About Hobbify
The internet has a million tutorials.
It doesn’t have a trusted friend
who’s already tried them.
That’s what Hobbify is. We find the best online courses for learning textile crafts, and we show you exactly what you’ll need to follow along.
How Hobbify started
A slow, annoying version of what you’re about to do.
I wanted to learn crochet. So I did what everyone does — I searched online. And within twenty minutes I had 47,000 YouTube results, a dozen course platforms, three Reddit threads arguing about which hook to buy, and absolutely no idea where to actually start.
So I did the slow, annoying version: I tried course after course until I found one that was genuinely good. I bought hooks that turned out to be wrong, then bought different ones. I asked questions in forums that made me feel daft for not already knowing the answers.
Eventually, I figured it out. And the whole time I kept thinking: someone should just tell you which course to take and what to buy. That’s it. That’s the whole idea behind Hobbify.
What Hobbify actually does
Three things, done well.
We review courses ourselves
Every course we recommend has been taken start to finish by a real beginner. We score on pace, clarity, and whether you actually make something by the end.
We match equipment to courses
Each course recommendation comes with a specific kit list — the exact hooks, yarn, needles, or tools you’ll need to follow along. Not a generic “best of” list.
We cover four textile crafts
Crochet, knitting, embroidery, and sewing. Each has its own hub with courses, equipment guides, beginner’s guides, and project ideas.
The affiliate model
How Hobbify makes money.
When you click through to a course or buy equipment through our links, we earn a small affiliate commission. You don’t pay anything extra — the price is exactly the same whether you come through Hobbify or go directly.
This is how we keep the site free. It also means our recommendations have to be genuinely good — because if we point you to a rubbish course, you won’t come back, and neither will the commissions.
What we won’t do:
Recommend something just because it pays a higher commission. If the best course for beginners happens to be on a platform with a lower rate, we’ll still recommend it. The reviews come first, the revenue follows.
Who’s behind Hobbify
Hi, I’m Jo.
Founder · Based in the UK
I’m not a crochet expert or a knitting guru. I’m someone who wanted to learn a craft, found the whole process unnecessarily confusing, and built the site I wished had existed when I started.
Every recommendation on Hobbify comes from actually trying things — not from press releases or sponsored content.
